What is GEN U?

GENeration United (GEN U) brings together Peoria area young professionals eager to support and further the work of the Heart of Illinois United Way (HOIUW). GEN U provides members with opportunities to provide hands-on support to organizations, see the impact of their work, and take a leadership role in implementing change. What is Snowball Masquerade?

2018 will mark the sixth year for this event! Held each January, the GENeration United Snowball Masquerade is Peoria's largest gala for young professionals, by young professionals. With live music, dancing, exciting raffles, and complimentary drinks (beer, wine, and soda) and heavy hors d'oeuvres, this is a night you won't want to miss! Each year, more than 300 community-minded individuals join us for Snowball Masquerade and all proceeds benefit the Heart of Illinois United Way Community Impact Fund.

When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, November 1st. You can purchase them on livegenu.org!

How much are tickets?

  • Early bird tickets are $50/person until December 13th
  • After December 13th, regular rate tickets are $65/person
  • Reserved tables of 8 seats are available for $500/table

The GEN U Snowball Masquerade is a fundraiser. Where will the money go?

Proceeds from the Snowball Masquerade will benefit the Heart of Illinois United Way Community Fund. HOIUW funds 87 health and human service programs with 46 partner agencies. These programs serve over 100,000 individuals in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Putnam, Stark, and Marshall Counties. For more information, please visit www.hoiunitedway.org.

What happens after I register and purchase my tickets? Do I need to bring a ticket with me on the night of the event?

You should receive a registration and payment confirmation e-mail immediately from GEN U.  The week before the event, you'll receive a reminder e-mail from Blaire Sambdman (HOIUW staff) with day of details. You do not need to bring a ticket/confirmation email with you on the night of the event. Please simply check in at the registration table on the night of the event.

Thank you! Volunteers will be needed to help on the day of the event to ensure the Snowball Masquerade runs smoothly. Please email Blaire Sambdman at blaire.sambdman@unitedway.org if interested in volunteering.

Do people really wear masks?

Yes, many guests choose to wear a masquerade mask (whether for part of the night, or the entire night). Towards the end of the night, a prize will be awarded for the most “Dashing Disguise”! However, masks are certainly not required!

Is there anything else I should know?

  • Cocktail attire is encouraged! Click here for pictures from last year’s event.
  • Raffle tickets and a wine pull will be available for purchase on the night of the event. We can accept cash, check, and credit cards!
